Newton, Northumberland

We are currently working on a planning application for a new home in the Northumberland open countryside in an area that is also designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). After receiving a negative pre-application enquiry our client decided to lodge a formal planning application along with a detailed justification for the proposal based on recent case law and a similar case that JT Planning had also secured permission for.

The site’s sensitive location in open countryside is a key planning issue to address but the site is well related to a settlement nearby. The removal of a current unsightly use is also offered as a planning benefit through an enhancement to the AONB. The client is keen to pursue sustainable construction techniques to respect the environment and reduce the need to use fossil fuels. The site’s wooded setting is also a critical matter and the design carefully respects existing tree cover.
